Lovers, fairies, and mischief abound in Ventura County Ballet Company’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. Artistic Director Colleen O’Callaghan and Choreographers Rodney Gustafson and Marina Fliagina direct this innovative ballet, based on Shakespeare’s classic story of love and mistaken identities, and set to the music of Mendelssohn. But wait, there’s more! In addition, the magic of Spain comes alive with excerpts in two acts from Don Quixote, another classic tale of romance. Guest artists from State Street Ballet and 60 dancers from Ballet Academy Ventura, the company’s official school, will perform both ballet stories. Ventura County Ballet Company Executive Director Kathleen Noblin promises “an original, whimsical program that will delight the entire family.” The Ventura County Ballet Company will perform Midsummer Night’s Dream and Excerpts from Don Quixote at the Oceanview Pavillion, 575 E. Surfside Drive in Port Hueneme on Saturday April 26th, 7:00 p.m. and Sunday April 27th at 2:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling 653-2800, or purchased at the Performing Arts Center Box Office, 986-4818 or the Pacific View Mall Guest Services.
