Seminar to Focus on Skin Cancer Detection, Treatment

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer. It has been estimated that nearly half of all Americans who live to age 65 will develop skin cancer at least once. While nonmelanoma skin cancers rarely take lives, they are frequently disfiguring.The public is invited to learn more about the common warning signs of the nonmelanoma skin cancers as well as the latest surgical treatments and reconstructions of the disease at a free seminar the Community Memorial Health System is holding in Ojai on Saturday, Nov. 10.Michael C. Pickart, M.D., a Ventura plastic surgeon, will lead the seminar that will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the banquet room at Soule Park, 1033 East Ojai Ave. Dr. Pickart will discuss exciting technologies for minimizing the impact of skin cancers and restoring both form and function.
Dr. Pickart is director of Pickart Plastic Surgery, Inc., and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at Loma Linda University. He received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco, and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and a member of the Community Memorial Hospital medical staff.Space is limited, so reservations are suggested.
