A Santa Paula man was arrested in Ventura Monday on suspicion of several drug and firearm charges after his vehicle was reported as being suspicious.

The 2017 Santa Paula Farm Division Allstar team would like to thank the entire Santa Paula Fire Department for their generous donation to the young men for their Allstar sweatshirts . These young men will be heading to their very 1st Allstar game this Saturday June 3 at 9:30am at Montalvo Little League.

A fire that could have been caused by a welding operation burned the north area of the Santa Clara River bank behind the 600 block of Santa Maria Street off of South Palm Avenue Saturday afternoon.

Santa Paula Police are searching for an additional suspect involved in an early Saturday morning shooting that left two men and a teenage girl wounded.

Santa Paula High School Senior Larry Renteria was awarded a prestigious “Service Above Self” special award by the Rotary Club of Santa Paula. The award included $1,000 for Renteria to use towards his university expenses. Renteria is the current President of the Interact, the Rotary Club at the SPHS, which he has been involved in his entire tenure at SPHS. Renteria also attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA). He will attend UC Berkeley in the fall. On hand to offer congratulations to Renteria (center) were Rotary Club President Carlos Juarez and Interact Club Advisor Tasha Wisniewski.

Another arrest has been made in a drug trafficking ring allegedly being run out of a Santa Paula automotive business.

Ventura College Lead Faculty, Architecture, Ralph Fernandez was honored by VC Innovates as a 2017 VC Innovates Pathfinder of the Year honoree for his role in support of Career and Technical Education.  Fernandez was one of 25 recognized at the organization’s annual award luncheon recently held at the Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo, CA. This esteemed local recognition celebrates talented leaders in education, business and community service who have made significant contributions in building pathways to employment for Ventura County students. 

Los Angeles County prosecutors have charged a Santa Paula woman with vehicular manslaughter in last year’s Highway 126 traffic death of emergency medical technician Christopher Ronald Parry.

Although initially a part-time employee, Sigrid Wong wouldn’t go home until the job was done and as executive coordinator of the Santa Clara Valley Hospice-Home Support Group (SCVH-HSG) there were plenty of times the board suspected she was working many more hours than she admitted to.
