Former Santa Paulan helps in Sri Lanka

Petty Officer 1st Class Dennis L. Maine, 42, a utilityman with the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Seven (NMCB-7), and Petty Officer P.P.D. Mawadawilagey of the Sri Lankan Navy help fill a water supply north of Galle, Sri Lanka. Maine, a native of Santa Paula, Calif. is just one of the more than 18,000 U.S. military personnel mobilized with ships, aircraft and forward-deployed land units in support of Operation Unified Assistance via Combined Support Groups in Sri Lanka, Thailand and Indonesia. The U.S. military will transition its assistance role to the government of Sri Lanka and relief organizations when they are able to maintain the enormous effort of supporting the long term recovery of Sri Lanka.
