With the deadline for submitting college applications to UC and CSU campuses approaching on November 30th, the counseling staff at Santa Paula High School is in the process of assisting all senior students complete their college applications.
The high school counselors have been working with students who plan to apply for college admissions since the first week of classes in September. Initially, students, especially seniors , were contacted to make certain they were taking the correct courses to satisfy the A-G requirements for college admission. Also, students were counseled to ensure they had taken or were scheduled to take the SAT I and SAT II exams. During the last week in October, the counselors held a college application workshop in the evening so that parents could attend with their child. On November 6th, the United Outreach Services, which consist of counselors from the local community colleges, UC Santa Barbara, CSU Northridge, CSU Channel Islands, and Cal Lutheran University, made a presentation to seniors regarding the different colleges, the various admission processes for the different campuses and financial aid.The filing period for the California State University (CSU) system began in October and will continue to November, 30, 2003. Students who are applying for programs that are impacted are urged to file as early as possible to insure they are considered for acceptance.The filing period for the University of California (UC) system is November 30, 2003. Applications must be postmarked by the last day of the filing period. Most campuses do not accept applications after this date. Students are reminded that November 30th is on a Sunday and that school will be closed on the 27th and 28th due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.
