SPPD: No injuries although numerous shots fired during series of drive-bys

Numerous shots were fired during a series of drive-by shootings that ranged throughout the city Sunday night, according to a Santa Paula Police Department spokesman.

Jim Ward said the incidents - all believed to be related - started at about 7:40 p.m. when the CHP reported on Sept. 7th that “two vehicles were driving towards Santa Paula on Highway 150 and the occupants shooting at each other.”At about 8:30 p.m. SPPD received reports that shots were fired at a “known residence” on the 900 block of Loma Vista, said Sgt. Ward.“There were numerous shots,” fired, he noted.A little more than an hour later at about 9:40 “half a dozen or more shots were heard,” and found to be fired at a residence in the 500 block of Acacia Road.
At about 10:15 p.m. “four to six shots were fired at Seventh and Main streets” at a vehicle.No one was reported injured in the series of shootings, said Sgt. Ward.The shootings are still under investigation and “we’re receiving conflicting stories at this point.”Sgt. Ward said police believe the series of shootings were gang-related and “we’re pretty sure there was more than one shooter but officially that’s unknown at this point.”
