Two Santa Paula juveniles were arrested early Saturday after allegedly being caught in the act of burglarizing a vehicle in East Ventura.

The incident occurred May 17 just after 6 a.m. when a resident of Peach Avenue, north of Highway 126 and east of Wells Road, reported seeing someone removing items from an unlocked vehicle.

Ventura Police arrived on scene and were told the two subjects ran away and were last seen near Casa Street and Pistachio Avenue.

Officers searched the area and found the two boys, ages 16 and 17, in the 11000 block of Telegraph Road.

Police found the unidentified boys had a large amount of stolen property; further investigation revealed they had allegedly committed several thefts from both locked and unlocked vehicles in the Peach Avenue area.

Officers also located a suspicious vehicle parked nearby and learned it had been taken overnight out of the city of Santa Paula and had not yet been reported stolen.

The two boys were placed under arrest and taken to Ventura County Juvenile Hall for multiple counts of being in possession of stolen property, vehicle burglary, petty theft and criminal conspiracy. Ventura Police said the recovered property, including the stolen vehicle, was identified and returned to the victims.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call the Ventura Police Department at 339-4309.
