Santa Paula News

The daughter, grandsons and great-grandchildren of George Irvin “Irv” Wilde were on hand for the January 9 dedication ceremony naming the United Water Conservation District headquarters in Wilde’s honor. Wilde-one of UWCD first employees who later served as a board director and general manager-was deeply involved in almost every major project undertaken by the district. Gathered at the ceremony were (left to right) Wilde’s daughter Joy Finley and family members Genevieve Finley, Cliff Finley (Santa Paula’s former public works director, Thousand Oaks City Engineer/Deputy Public Works Director), Connor Finley, Karen Finley and husband Ryan Finley and Alexandria Finley. The plaque bearing Wilde’s likeness notes his 40 years of “leadership, dedication and hard work” on behalf of water resources. Wilde passed in December 2012, just a month after his 97th birthday.
