People were avid about having fun at the Pachuco Car Club Briggs Car Show and Concert that benefited the AVID program. The June 9 car show held at the school was attended by more than a thousand people said Bob Martinez, the spokesman and representative for the club.

“It was a good turnout for those who wanted to enjoy the cars as well as for music lovers!” said Martinez. “The Pepe Marquez Band was on point, along with the former lead singer of the Midniters Hank Castro, who was entertaining the crowd with music of the past and present tunes as well; it was a real outdoors concert.”

The Briggs School campus was filled with vintage automobiles from the 1930s all the way to the 2000+ plus models. Martinez said, “Motorcycles added to the great attraction, showing off custom paint jobs. J&J Customs of Santa Paula had a great display of their custom Harleys, as well as Tri-County MotorWorks of Oxnard.”

The daylong celebration of concerts, cars and kids featured food and merchandise vendors and plenty of fun activities.

“Kids lined up to ride the ponies and jump around on the Jolly Jumpers; we had Mickey Mouse on site walking around and enjoy the showing with the kids as well,” just several components of the event that Martinez said “was a big success... and the Pachuco Car Club is proud to have helped out the Briggs School AVID Program with a donation of $4,200 that was raised that day. We are looking forward to making this an annual event, which will continue to raise money for this successful program at Briggs School.”

Briggs Principal Brandon Gallagher was not only supportive, but Martinez said, “He worked really hard on this event,” and Martinez thanked Superintendent Debra Cuevas “for giving Pachuco Car Club the opportunity to help the school.”

Golden Sponsors were John Macik/Santa Paula Chevrolet, Doug Huff of Allstate Insurance, Saticoy Car & Truck AutoBody, The Women of the Santa Paula Moose Lodge, and Victor Almazan of Garden Market in Santa Paula. Martinez also thanked David Dodos Garcia of Dodos Graphic Design and Firefighter Matt Kline of the Santa Paula Fire Fighters Association, as well as “The United Car Clubs of Ventura County and the non-club affiliated car and bike owners for their attendance. And lastly, the members of the Pachuco Car Club for their contribution to making this show a success.”
