You can rock your body and rock out by helping others when you attend a fundraiser Sunday that will let you mix Zumba with charity!

The Zumbathon is to raise funds for Saint Augustine Academy’s graduates Gabriella Sandoval of Santa Paula, Rosario Zinkewich, and Helen Van Hecke, who this summer will be part of a mission in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The teenagers will assist the Missionaries of Charity in serving less fortunate families in Buenos Aires.

According to Gabriella’s mother Stephanie Sandoval, the Zumbathon will be held June 2 at Casa Del Mexicano, 218 S. 11th St., from 9 to 11 a.m. Tickets are only $20 each.

“There will be a live DJ,” said Sandoval, a noted Zumba instructor. “Woo hoo! We’re going to boogie!”

Donations of any amount are also being accepted to help fund the travel of the recent high school graduates. “We will rock your body for two hours!” said Sandoval. “Come join the Zumba Party!”

Sandoval said fellow instructors Ines Rowland and Liz Gutierrez will also be on hand to help attendees Zumba down for an uplifting cause. For more information or tickets, contact Stephanie Sandoval at (805) 302-1806. Tickets will also be available at the door. Raffle tickets and snacks will be sold, as well as must-have Zumba attire.

Missionaries of Charity is a Roman Catholic religious congregation established in 1950 by the late Mother Teresa of Calcutta. It consists of over 4,501 religious sisters and is active in 133 countries where they serve the poorest of the poor.
