Boys’ soccer teams travel to Golden Valley with mixed results

The Cardinal boys soccer teams played their first game at Golden Valley high school this Monday.

In the JV game freshman Ricky Zamarron got things started when he scored a goal assisted by Diego Tinajero.  With the halftime score 1-0, Golden Valley made a comeback and scored two goals in the second half to win 2-1.

For the varsity junior Jose Gomez scored within the first 10 minutes assisted by senior co-captain Luis Magana. Senior Danny Fregoso scored 5 minutes later by chipping the goalie with an assist by sophomore David Arana. Golden Valley retaliated with a goal to make the score 2-1. 

Just minutes before halftime, Gomez added his second goal of the contest assisted by fellow junior Eric Salgado. The score at halftime was 3-1. Santa Paula scored one more goal in the second half on a corner kick by Luis Magana assisted by David Arana. The final score was 4-1.

The JV record is 0-1

The Varsity Record is 1-0
