A suspected hit and run driver was arrested Friday after she returned to the scene of the accident and Santa Paula Police officers saw the vehicle she was driving not only matched the description of the car involved, but it also had major damage consistent with the collision.

Lt. Troyce Reynolds said SPPD officers responded to a report of a traffic collision between a traveling vehicle and parked car March 18 at approximately 7:58 p.m. at Beckwith Street and West Telegraph Road. “At the scene, witnesses stated that a white Toyota had sideswiped a parked red VW and then fled the area,” said Reynolds.

While officers were investigating the accident, “A white Toyota” matching the description of the hit and run vehicle, “with major damage consistent with the collision, drove by.” Officers stopped the vehicle and determined that in fact it was the one involved in the collision. Reynolds said, “After brief investigation the driver, Lidia Zuniga,” a 35-year-old Santa Paula resident, was arrested for suspicion of hit and run.
