Santa Paula News

“Razzberry Jam” will be the featured performer at the Santa Paula Art Museum on Sunday, September 26th at 4:00.  They will be performing one of America’s great art forms---New Orleans style jazz.

“Razzberry Jam” began its life as a Dixieland jazz group 20 years ago.  Its seven members are all active players in a number of well-known musical groups in the western Ventura County area, including the Ventura County Concert Band, Swing Shift, the Ventura Jazz Orchestra and others.  The group delights in playing traditional New Orleans style jazz tunes such as Bill Bailey, Won’t You Please Come Home, Bye Bye Blackbird, Bourbon Street Parade.   The band will feature vocal selections by Dia Takahashi, composer, pianist and recording artist. She will quickly become one of your favorite singers! Members of Razzberry Jam are accomplished life-long musicians, some with careers in music, and some with music simply as a source of fun during their busy careers.  They enjoy the camaraderie of playing together on a regular basis.

Members of “Razzberry Jam” are vocalist Dia Takahashi, Jim Wade on tuba, Bert Alton on banjo, Barbara Reed on piano, Steve Matskin on drums, Jim Walker on cornet, Bill Schneider on trombone, and Chuck Mullett on clarinet

Join us for a evening of Dixieland Jazz on Sunday, September 26th at 4:00 p.m.  Cost is $25 for museum members and $30 for non-members.  Wine and Cajun style hors d’oeuvres will be served.

The Santa Paula Art Museum is the repository and exhibition hall for the Santa Paula Art Collection.  The valuable assemblage represents the accumulation of award winning entries in the Santa Paula Art Show which began in 1937.  Currently featured at the Art Museum is Art About Agriculture, De Colores, and Selections from the Santa Paula Collection.  The Museum is open Wednesday-Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Admission: Adults $4, Seniors $3 and members and students are free.
