St. Patrick’s Day Parade celebrates 20 years!

The County Ventura St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee has announced that the theme of the 20th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be “Green for 20 Years”, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the annual county celebration.

The County Ventura St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee has announced that the theme of the 20th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be “Green for 20 Years”, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the annual county celebration. Bands, floats, car clubs and horses from all over Ventura County will go green once more, and join us in marking the 20th year on Main Street in historic downtown Ventura to the delight of friends and neighbors from throughout the county. The Grand Marshal for the 20th Annual Parade is St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee Chairman and founder Jim Monahan, in honor of his 20 years of dedication to the parade and his many continued efforts on behalf of the people of County Ventura. Jim Monahan was Mayor of Ventura when the parades began in 1988. “We are very proud to present the County Ventura St. Patrick’s Day Parade for the 20th year,” said Monahan, “for the 20th year we are happy to thank the fine people of County Ventura for rewarding us with their participation, sponsorships, volunteerism and spectatorship. We do it for them.”After the parade, fun and excitement awaits; a grand St. Patrick’s Day party on the California Street promenade complete with games, jugglers, face painting and much more. The day will be complete with holiday menu offerings and St. Patrick’s Day specials in the many local restaurants and businesses.
The 20th Annual County Ventura St. Patrick’s Day Parade will step off at 10 AM on Saturday, March 15 at the San Buenaventura Mission and make its way up Main Street past the reviewing stand at Chestnut Street where they will put their best foot forward to impress the judges in order to win one of the many trophies that will be awarded. Judges for the parade and competition include Ventura County Fair’s Barbara Quaid, Jim Dooley of KVTA News Radio, Ralph Harrison of Harrison Industries, Ventura County business owner Victor Georgino, and James Lockwood of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee.Deadline for entries for families, organizations, schools, bands and all others who wish to participate in the parade or competition is March 7th.
