Santa Paula JV girls win the day over visiting La Reina

The JV girls’ basketball team started out slow, but bounced back in the second half to overpower La Reina Thursday night 32-15. The Lady Cardinal JV didn’t score a single point in the first quarter, but managed 8 in the second and trailed 11-8 art the half.It was the third quarter where Santa Paula came to life, hitting the basket for 15 points, followed by 9 in the fourth. La Reina could only manage 4 points in the entire second half.For the Santa Paula varsity it was a different story. The Lady Cards lost 54-24.La Reina totally dominated the court in the first half, going into the break with a 31-13 lead. Santa Paula slowed down the La Reina charge in the second half, but couldn’t find the basket to score points.
The Lady Cardinals finish the season tomorrow night at Grace Brethren.
