Byron Felton King
Born in Santa Paula May 29, 1911 to Kenneth and Adella Greenough King, Byron died June 1, 2004 in Santa Paula.He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Janet Richardson King and her two children, John Richardson of Santa Paula and Alice Kelley of Raleigh, North Carolina, and their families. He also leaves his brother, Marion King of Port Hueneme and niece Penny Colclough of Burbank and nephew Kenneth King of Oxnard and their families. He was married to Berneice Warrick for 24 years until her death and is survived by her son, James Warrick of Las Vegas, Nevada and his family. He also leaves many cousins and friends.He was the director of music for the Methodist Church for 48 years and Mr. Music for the Santa Paula Rotary Club for 50 years, as well as known for his musical accompaniment in Ventura County for his lifetime.A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 9 at the Methodist Church, 133 N. Mill St. in Santa Paula.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the music department of the Methodist Church, 133 N. Mill St., Santa Paula, CA 93060.Ruah “Gladys” PinderRuah “Gladys” Pinder, 98, of Santa Paula, passed away after a brief illness. Mrs. Pinder was born November 3, 1905 in Polk County, Missouri. She was a 78-year Ventura County resident, having come from Urbana, Missouri.Mrs. Pinder was a homemaker and loved her daughter and all of her grandchildren dearly and always made them feel special. Their beloved “Nana” never told them “No.” One of her favorite pastimes was a challenging game of checkers with her great-grandchildren. Mom was the dearest mother that ever was, as she sacrificed lots to raise her daughter alone.Mrs. Pinder is survived by her daughter Judy (husband John Kerr) Cummings of Camarillo; granddaughter Marsha (husband Jim) Cavender of Santa Paula; three great-grandchildren, Jason (wife Mijlinda) Cavender, Alison (husband Ben) Fausset, and Ryan Cavender; and two great-great-grandchildren, Savannah Cavender, and Hayden Fausset.Mrs. Pinder was preceded in death by her grandson, Danny Richards.A visitation will be held Friday, June 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pierce Brothers Stetler Chapel, 128 S. 8th St., Santa Paula, and a service is to be held Saturday, June 5 at 1 p.m. also at Pierce Brothers Stetler, with Pastor Bob Walpole officiating.
