Fifth-grade students from Glen City Elementary School had an opportunity to walk through the American Revolution by participating in dramatic re-enactment activities that were considered pivotal points in America’s history.  The event was held on February 26 and March 4 inside the school’s brand-new Literacy Center.

“My students participated in a lively presentation about the beginning of our nation,” said Maria Ruiz, a fifth-grade teacher at Glen City School. She, along with fellow teachers Norma Medina, Alfredo Sanchez, and Michael Hager, guided the students through an exploration of some of the famous events, historical figures, and relevant vocabulary used during the American Revolution. “The students dressed up like historical Revolutionary heroes such as John Hancock and Benjamin Franklin through the use of games, music, and storytelling,” Ruiz added.

California Weekly Explorer provides fourth, fifth, and sixth graders with quality history presentations through its Walk Through American Revolution presentations that motivate children’s creativity, intellect, and ethics. They believe in bringing the past to life by educating in an exciting, vibrant way, through active participation and highly effective teaching; all to kindle a love of history in future generations.
