She is survived by her husband, Richard Gonzales; sons, Richard Jr. and David; daughter, Jennifer; granddaughter, Jenesis; brothers, Victor Saenz and David Solis; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert and Audelia Gonzales; and all of her in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Those closest to Juanita knew her as Tiny. She was born in Ventura, California, and met the love of her life, Richard, when she was just 15 years old in Santa Paula, California. They eventually married and had their three wonderful children. She loved entertaining family and friends, and was always in charge of preparing her famous red chili, the hotter the better. She had a very distinctive and infectious laugh with a smile that could light an entire room, a fun way with words, and a heart of pure gold.
She made friends constantly, having had an easy way about her – never pretentious, just real and to the point. She was strong-minded and believed that nothing in life was impossible and instilled this in everyone she touched or came across. She enjoyed the simple things the most: cooking; family bbq’s; coaching her daughter and sons’ softball games; listening to oldies such as The Stylistics; watching her favorite soap operas, namely General Hospital; caring for her granddaughter, whom she was extremely proud of; and spending as much time as possible with her family, who meant the world to her. Juanita was beyond special and we will miss her dearly, but she will always live in our hearts and she will never ever be forgotten.A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, August 24, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 235 N. 9th St., Santa Paula, Father Thomas J.
