Filberto was born on August 22, 1921, and raised on the Teague McKevett Ranch in Santa Paula. He met and married his sweetheart, Eleanor Martinez, in 1951. He worked for Ventura Coastal as an oil technician for 32 years.Filberto enjoyed many years surrounded by his family. He was the patriarch of five generations, and had always been a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, and always had an interesting story to tell. One of his favorite pastimes was to sip from a glass of cream cherry wine, surrounded by his family.He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eleanor Jacinto of Delano; 10 children, Frances, Gabriel, Tony, Henry, Cruz, Michael, David, Sarah, Gloria and Conrad; sister Sally Ortiz; brothers, Nino and Arnold Jacinto; 79 grandchildren; 268 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed and always remembered in the hearts of his loving family and many friends.Filberto was preceded in death by his parents, Petra and Vincente Jacinto; two sons, Vincent and Jesse Jacinto; and a daughter, Linda Prado.A visitation will be held at Pierce Brothers Stetler Chapel on Sunday, November 19 from 12 noon until 7:30 p.m., followed by a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 20 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 235 N. 9th St., Santa Paula. He was born on February 17, 1960 in La Mesa, and was a 15-year county resident coming from Palmdale.A ranch foreman for Rancho Caron in Santa Paula, Mr. Perez enjoyed H.O. trains and had an extensive knowledge of trains. He enjoyed the Tehachapi Loop.He is survived by his wife, Mary of Santa Paula; daughters, Stacy Perez and Renee Perez, both of Santa Paula; mother and stepfather, Harriet and Walt Mader of Prescott Valley, Arizona; father and stepmother, James and Patty Perez of San Diego; sister Nancy Perez of Spokane, Washington; brothers, Jim Perez, Ronnie Perez, Tony Perez and Jeff Perez, all of San Diego, and Dan Perez of Santa Paula; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends; and valued friend and associate Ron Hertel.Graveside services will be held at Santa Paula Cemetery on Friday, November 17 at 10:30 a.m., the Rev. Donald C. Truesdell
Donald Claude Ellis Truesdell, age 88, passed away Friday, November 10, 2000 in Santa Paula. He was predeceased by his wife, Susan A. Truesdell.Born May 20, 1912, Donald moved to Santa Paula from Flint, Michigan in 1913 with his parents, Ambra Irene DeMode and Claude Delbert Truesdell. His father was the first barber in Santa Paula and later became a local realtor.As a young man, Donald enjoyed fishing and hiking the Sespe. He was the 1928 “Homerun King” of Santa Paula High School. He survived the St. Francis Dam disaster and the Great Depression.Donald had an entrepreneurial business sense at an early age. He opened produce stands in Santa Paula and Oxnard. As a hobby he charted the stock market for decades. He went to Woodbury Business College, and later was the accountant for the Limoneira Ranch for 10 years. These interests compelled him to pursue investment banking as a career, and in 1947 he moved to Ventura to open the very first office of Dean Witter Reynolds at the Zander Building.In his later years, Donald followed in his father’s footsteps as a real estate broker. He was instrumental in assisting many young couples in the purchase of their first homes. Colleagues will remember him for his knowledge and ability to communicate about current events, political issues and business.The nurses and staff at Twin Pines will remember his dancing, singing, and keen sense of humor in his autumn years. Every day was a celebration of life. This complex man enjoyed simple pleasures. His last family outing was to the Faulkner Farm Pumpkin Patch. He leaves the legacy of the many fruit trees he planted for his family at numerous homes throughout the county.He and his family are proud that he cast his vote in the November 7, 2000 Presidential election, and his vote will count!He is survived by his four daughters and their families: Beverly Nadine and Truman Stiles, Joyce Arlene Truesdell, Trudy T. and Robert Shields, and Cynthia DeMode.
