Joseph James Olney Joseph James Olney, 83, of Santa Paula, passed away Monday, December 25, 2006 in Fillmore. Joseph was born September 19, 1923 in Santa Paula.He worked as an electronic technician for the Point Mugu Naval Base for 30 years. He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, where he worked as a handyman for two years after his retirement.Joseph enjoyed bowling and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, and the Boston Celtics.He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Asiatic Pacific campaign.Joseph will be greatly missed by his family, which included his wife of 59 years, Dolores “Lola”; son, David Olney of San Francisco; daughters, Martha (husband Rosendo) Buenrostro and Barbara (husband Henson) Olney-Jue, both of Santa Paula; grandchildren, Mark, Cynthia and Matthew (wife Maricarmen) Buenrostro, and Robert Jr. and Jillian Carricaburu; and one great-grandchild, Nathan Andrew Buenrostro.His family wishes to extend our thanks and appreciation to the staff of Fillmore Convalescent for their excellent care of our loved one.Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 29, with Father Pasquale Vuoso officiating. Burial will follow the mass at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Skillin Carroll Mortuary, 738 E. Santa Paula St., Santa Paula, 525-3391.Marciana D. MarquezMarciana D. Marquez, 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Santa Paula on Monday, December 25, 2006. She was born November 2, 1924 in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico.Marciana was a resident of Ventura County for 50 years, spending all those years as a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, entertaining, family, friends, and casino runs.
Marciana was preceded in death by her husband, Refugio Marquez; son, Feliciano Marquez; and daughter-in-law, Ramona Marquez. She is survived by her four sons, Jose D. (wife Esther), Esteban D. (wife Rosario), Miguel (wife Cheryl), and David (wife Joyce) Marquez; five daughters, Mary (husband Thomas) Pacheco, Asuncion (husband Antonio) Pardo, Maria (husband John) Reyes, Anita (husband David) Sanchez, and Carmen Marquez; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; six brothers, Francisco, Guadalupe, Federico, Aristeo, Cosme and Memo De Anda; and three sisters, Asuncion Garnica, Lola Diaz and Bernarda De Anda.Special thanks to Dr. Michael Tushla, Dr. Michael Sparkuhl, and Procare Hospice.Visitation will be Friday, December 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Skillin Carroll Chapel, 738 E. Santa Paula St., Santa Paula, with Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 427 N. Oak St., Santa Paula. Funeral mass will be Saturday, December 30 at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, with interment to follow at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Skillin Carroll Mortuary, 738 E.
