Arrangements are under the direction of Garcia Mortuary of Oxnard.Angela Guerrero GarciaAngela Guerrero Garcia, loving mother and grandmother, left in peace to accompany our Lord and our Lady of Guadalupe on May 20, 2000.Angela was born on August 2, 1910 at the start of the Mexican Revolution. She lived in the land of her ancestors in the mountains of Zacatecas, Mexico until 1954, and eventually settled in the city of Santa Paula in 1956 with her two youngest daughters. She worked in the fields and in the Saticoy parsley packing house until retirement in 1975.She served Our Lady of Guadalupe Church until the age of 80 years as a Guadalupana. With one year of formal schooling, she became an avid reader and historian. She also loved to paint, sew, embroider, garden, care for her cats, and do carpentry work around her home. She especially enjoyed volunteering as a cook for Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.She is survived by daughters, Angela Ureno Castaneda and Hermlinda Ureno; sons Benjamin Barrientos and Prudencio Ureno; grandchildren, Esteban, Juan Antonio, Lourdes, Ruben, Benjamin Jr. and Leticia Barrientos, and Mayte, Asalia, Ulises, Raudel and Yoloxochitl Ureno; 23 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Doroteo Barrientos, Miguel Ureno and Victor Garcia, and by children, Carmela and Patrocinio Barrientos.Mass will be held Friday, May 26 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Santa Paula. Burial will be at Santa Paula Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, Santa Paula.

Ada Joann Michaud
Ada Joann Michaud, better known as “Joann” to all who knew her, went home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2000 after a long illness.Joann was born in Santa Paula on October 27, 1952 to Betty Jean and Jessie Willard Robinson, Sr. She was a lifelong resident of Ventura County.Joann attended Blanchard and Isbell Grammar School and Santa Paula High School. She spent many years working as a caregiver and LVN in several convalescent homes and hospitals in Santa Paula, Oxnard and Ventura. She was last employed by Child Abuse And Neglect of Ventura County as program assistant until 1987.Joann found solace in the word of God, which led her to a higher calling. She was ordained by Phoenix Lighthouse Ministries and ministered on street corners of Santa Paula, carrying a cross wherever she went, testifying and preaching to whoever would listen, and watching lives being transformed by the word of God.The Lord laid it on her heart to start a church and to minister to the homeless and neglected. That’s when the Book of Acts Ministries was founded. The garaged church lasted only a short time, until she was forced to close its doors due to illness. She continued to minister when she could, and had the opportunity in various churches in Santa Paula, Fillmore and Oxnard.Joann was preceded in death by her father, Jessie Willard Robinson, Sr. in 1990, and daughter Elizabeth Suzanne Settlemire in 1996. She is survived by husband Normand Michaud; daughter Donelle Corona of Santa Paula; stepdaughter Melissa Barisic of Lynnwood, Washington; grandsons, Allan “Bart” Settlemire of Ojai, Dakota “Cody” Nali of Santa Paula, and Kyle Barisic of Lynnwood, WA; granddaughter Sarah Barisic of Lynnwood, WA; parents, Burnell and Betty Everly of Santa Paula and Yvette Michaud of Somersworth, New Hampshire; brothers, Jessie Robinson, Jr., Robert Robinson and Terry Utley, and sisters, Susan Terrell and Ann Taylor, all of Santa Paula; and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Tender Loving Care Hospice, especially RNs Suzen and Karen, CNA Bertha, Chaplain Annette and Social Worker Laura, for their support, professionalism and dedication in our time of need.A special thanks to Carol Robinson for all the help and support and in caring for Joann many long hours.Come and celebrate Joann’s life at a memorial service to be held at Abundant Life Church, 501 Ojai Road, Santa Paula, on May 27 at 2 p.m., the Reverend Jerry Totty officiating.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to T.L.C.
