Yard of the Month

This month’s “Yard of the Month” was awarded to Luis Espinosa and his daughter, Carmen of 517 Citrus Street.  Shown here, from left to right are Luis Espinosa and Craig Lamont of Heritage-Ace Hardware.

  On Monday, November 3rd Barbara Kroon of the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce and Craig Lamont visited the Espinosa home, congratulated Mr. Espinosa, planted the sign in the yard and took this photo.  His daughter Carmen graciously gave us a tour of the front and back yard and told us that this designation meant so much to her father and made him a very happy man.  Sadly, three days later Luis Espinosa passed away.   We are so grateful to have given him such a happy experience during his last days.  When asked why Craig chose this yard he said, “He is 92 years old and his daughter Carmen takes care of him and the garden he planted years ago.  This award is about people who care for their yard, year after year, and he was a life long gardener.”  Yard of the Month is co-sponsored by Heritage-Ace Hardware, America In Bloom - Santa Paula and the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce.
