Schuck, 85, of Ventura, passed away suddenly at Santa Paula Memorial Hospital on September 2, 2001.Ben was born June 15, 1916 in Detroit, Michigan. He was an 11 year county resident coming from Cayucos, CA, first to Santa Paula and then to Ventura. Ben was an insurance broker for 48 years and spent most of his working life in Los Angeles. He was a member and past president of both the Cambria Rotary and the Brokers Society of Southern California. (Sykes) JohnsonHazel E. (Sykes) Johnson, loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2001 at the age of 86 at a Ventura local hospital. She was born on November 9, 1914 in Logan County, Arkansas, to James L. and Barbara Sykes, the youngest of 10 children.Hazel married John H. Johnson, Sr. on November 9, 1933 in Kansas. In 1943 they moved to Santa Barbara to work and raise their family. In their later years they moved to Saticoy, and then in 1985, after her husband?s death, Hazel moved to Santa Paula. She became active with other seniors in bowling leagues throughout Ventura County. She was also president of the Santa Paula Shuffleboard Club, and played actively until recently. She played many games at the Oaks Mobile Estate where she lived.She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Johnson; and her parents and siblings, except for her brother, John B. Sykes, who resides in Ventura.Hazel is survived by her children, John H. Johnson and Rose Mary of Goleta, Don Johnson of Santa Maria, and Gary Johnson and Doris of Arroyo Grande; stepsons, Max Johnson and Evelyn of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Bud Johnson and Lou Ann of Glencoe, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Cathy Lauritson and Richard, Michael Johnson and Rhoda, Tracey Bellerive and David, Scott Johnson, and Gredsa and Zamir Johnson; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Cody Lauritson, Austin, Seairah and Britney Johnson, and Michelle and Tara Johnson; and many nieces and nephews and extended family.Funeral services are planned for 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 7th at Charles Carroll Funeral Home, 15 Teloma Dr., at Telegraph Rd. in Ventura. Katrina was born on May 10, 1970 in Santa Paula to Fred De Leon and Elva Nava. She was a life long resident of Ventura County.Katrina was in the process of writing her autobiography, which would have been published at the end of the year. Among her talents were he beautiful singing voice and her ability to harmonize. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She will be missed dearly. Katrina, we will always love you.Katrina is survived by her husband, Kirk A. Larson; children, Angel Rene, Joseph Michael, Kirk Anthony, Brittany Maria, and Savana Marie; mother, Elva De Leon; grandmothers, Celia Jimenez and Josephine De Leon; brothers, Eleazar Mora and Angel Mora; and sisters, Theresa Lane, Anamaria Vasquez and Linda Arista. Katrina was preceded in death by her father, Fred De Leon, Jr.The Holy Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 7 at 11 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church in Santa Paula.
