Fosters Freeze has new owners

Fosters Freeze in Santa Paula has new owners. Actually, the new owners are the old owners.

In 1948 Lester and Eleanor Thor came to Santa Paula and began selling cones for a nickel at its current location of Harvard Blvd.and Brett Way. In the early 1950s they added on to the building and added food to the menu.

Lester ran the store until 1979, when one of his daughters, Linda and her husband Marvin, took hold of the business reins. Then in 1985 the family tore down the original building and built the current building. The faded photos on the wall in the dining room record the demolition and rebuilding.

Their son Scott began to work in the new restaurant, and followed in the footsteps of his grandfather and father. After operating the business for 22 years, the Schaefers decided to sell the business. They were involved in many business ventures and accumulated valuable experiences.

After being gone for eleven years, Scott and his wife Summer decided that the Fosters Freeze tradition Lester and Eleanor Thor started should be carried on by their family. As they say, sometimes history repeats itself.

Come by and welcome the Schaefer’s back to Santa Paula reminisce about those good old days. Continue the Santa Paula Fosters Freeze tradition with your family.
