“While officers were trying to get a medical clearance” to transport Ruiz to jail he “lashed out and kicked one of the nurses in the face” on the right cheek. During the incident, Juarez said, another nurse “got her finger pinched when he was rolling around on the gurney.”Ruiz, who is on parole, was arrested and booked for delaying and obstructing a police officer and being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was also arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.“When someone kicks another person in the face and the head,” noted Juarez, “that is considered pretty serious stuff.” Ruiz was transported to Ventura County Jail and booked on the charges.
