Santa Paula Chevrolet & Operation Kidsafe holds digital fingerprint and photo program
Santa Paula News
Specialized equipment travels the country and provides a photo and fingerprints of your children just in case they go missing. An Operation Kidsafe was held this past weekend at Santa Paula Chevrolet. Over 2,000 children are reported missing each day in the U.S. Most are found within minutes or hours and have happy endings. Police officials say that time is critical in the recovery of missing children. One major problem that costs precious time is the gathering of current photographs, fingerprints and statistical information to assist law enforcement agencies. While most children are quickly reunited, there is always the fear of the worst and that is what we must prepare for.Safety, education and awareness are what Operation Kidsafe is all about! The fingerprinting of the new millennium, Operation Kidsafe will take a child’s picture using a Digital Video Capture Device that interacts with our custom software. The software then captures the child’s fingerprints, using a digital ink-less fingerprint capture device, and includes them as part of the child’s file. The parent was provided an 8 1/2 x 11” printout containing the photograph and fingerprints. The parent can use the copy they received to turn over to law enforcement anywhere in the world to instantly aid in an investigation. No Data Basing: No records are maintained. The only record of the visit will go home with the parent for safekeeping. The program was free for every family! Operation Kidsafe toll free number: 866-962-5487.
Ted Carlino, Regional Manager, of Operation Kidsafe was in Santa Paula conducting the program. Pictured above left with Carlino is Mia Nava, age 7, the daugher of Christina Nava. Mia is having her fingerprints recorded. Pictured above right is Michael Lee Vitagliano, age 11, mother Suzanne, having his fingerprints recorded. A sheet with all the appropriate information was given to each parent. The parents will now keep updated photos attached to the paper, just in case. Many parents from Santa Paula took advantage of the opportunity to have photos and fingerprints of their children.
