SPUHSD Trustees & Superintendent earn Masters in Governance certificates

Catherine Sepulveda and Tina Urias, trustees of the Santa Paula Union High School District, and Dr. David Gomez, superintendent, have completed the California School Boards Association Masters in Governance program.

Catherine Sepulveda and Tina Urias, trustees of the Santa Paula Union High School District, and Dr. David Gomez, superintendent, have completed the California School Boards Association Masters in Governance program. Trustees Sepulveda and Urias and Dr. Gomez received the Masters in Governance certificate after completing 56 hours of intensive training on the role of the governance team in setting the direction of the district, student learning and achievement, school finance and facilities, human resources, setting policy, collective bargaining, and community leadership.“This certificate recognizes a demonstrated commitment to learning, leadership and effective governance,” said CSBA President Luan B. Rivera. “The Masters in Governance program is designed to provide board members and superintendents with the knowledge and skills they need in order to function effectively as governance teams.
“Our program recognizes the necessity of the board and superintendent working closely together toward a common goal - student learning and achievement. We are extremely proud when a trustee or superintendent completes the requirements of the program in the interest of better serving his or her local schools, communities and the children of California.”
