Several prominent Ventura County physicians who are experts in the early detection, care and treatment of prostate disease will be featured at a free health seminar open to the public called, “Prostate Cancer: Detection & Treatment Options.”

Members of the public are welcome to attend the seminar on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Ventura Beach Marriott Hotel, 2055 Harbor Blvd. Free Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) early-detection tests will be offered, with results available the same day. Complimentary continental breakfast and lunch are included for all guests. For reservations, please call 805-652-5436. The seminar begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends about 1 p.m.

Prostate cancer patients, men with a history of prostate disease and their spouses and caregivers are especially urged to attend to learn about prostate cancer and treatment options, including minimally invasive therapies. Healthcare professionals who attend will earn three hours of CME credits as they learn about new treatments and imaging techniques to battle the disease that kills more than 30,000 men in the United States each year.

Physicians at the seminar will discuss, among other topics, the importance of early screening and detection, the use of color Doppler ultrasound and what to do if you are diagnosed with prostate cancer. They also will review treatments such as removal of the prostate gland, robotic surgery, chemotherapy, cryotherapy, hormone therapy and radiation.

Physicians making presentations at this seminar include Dr. Duke Bahn, Dr. Marc Beaghler, Dr. Kevin Chang, Dr. Cedric Emery, Dr. Thomas Fogel, Dr. William Klope, Dr. Jeffrey Rodnick and Dr. Paul Silverman.
