“Fagan Canyon addresses the needs of Santa Paulans today - and tomorrow. It was designed to complement the character of the total community though a range of rich architecture in authentic interpretations of Craftsman, Monterey, Victorian, and Spanish Colonial designs,” said Odle. “Homes will be phased over 10 years to make sure that amenities and facilities are built as needed. Streets will be lined with trees and will lead to public parks, school sites, and small convenience shops and services to discourage excessive automobile travel. More than $24 million will be contributed in educational construction and funding, including $10 million to our high school district. And, Centex Homes has agreed to preserve 900 acres of open space with hiking and biking trails and preserve the majority of Fagan Creek in its natural condition. This is a very good plan for Santa Paula! We urge all Santa Paula business owners to support the Fagan Canyon plan.”

The Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce voted to endorse the plan for new Fagan Canyon neighborhoods to be built in Santa Paula by Centex Homes/LA-Ventura Division. Additionally, the Chamber’s Board of Directors voted to support efforts to gain approval for the comprehensive development plan.“In addition to providing a needed diversity of entry-level, family and executive estate homes in Santa Paula, Fagan Canyon also will generate millions upon millions of dollars in new city fees and revenues that will be used to greatly improve all areas of Santa Paula --- at no expense to existing residents,” said Mike Odle, president of the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce. “Plus, the Fiscal Impact Report for Fagan Canyon shows that Fagan Canyon families will represent an influx of new Santa Paula customers with $12.3 million in annual retail buying power. This translates into $125,000 in sales tax revenue to the city annually to help fund even more local improvements.”Odle added: “The Chamber was impressed that Fagan Canyon will create 5,000 jobs locally. This is good for the economy and even better for our young people.”Odle noted that the plan for Fagan Canyon represents more than two years of community input and comment.
