Santa Paula High School
Santa Paula High School Auto Technology Club and auto shop students have been active this year in a number of activities, including the 2005 Anaheim Auto Show in October, taking a tour of Universal Technical Institute (UTI) of auto mechanics in Rancho Cucamonga in May, and also competing at the Ventura College Automotive Olympics for high school students.
The Anaheim show is for the introduction of new year models, and the students have an opportunity to check out all the new cars, as well as some concept cars, and show vehicles.UTI is a trade school, with campuses all over the United States that train technicians for the auto, diesel, motorcycle and watercraft industry. The brand new California campus can accommodate 2,200 students, and includes special programs for Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, BMW, and hot rod and performance cars.Ventura College Auto Program invites high school auto students to their campus every spring to show off their outstanding training facility that teaches all phases of the automotive repair trade. The day is full of fun activities, with prizes for all in attendance and barbecue lunch, all provided free. This is a great time for students to meet the instructors and tour the shop and decide if they want to continue their training in the automotive field. The automotive program at Santa Paula is presently teaching three levels of courses: Auto I, an introductory course; Auto II, Chassis and Tune Up; and Auto III, Advanced Auto, including engine and suspension repairs. We presently have over 175 students in all the courses together.
