Pure Gold, an independent pep band based in Santa Paula, is accepting additional musicians for a two-month commitment to play for several graduations in June. This unique, intergenerational pep band consists primarily of homeschool and private school students and parents of intermediate skill level and above. Pure Gold rehearses Mondays from 7-8 pm.Pure Gold was created last year by Robert Laird of Santa Paula. Laird, who first began directing and developing ensembles as a teenager, brings a wealth of experience and accomplishments to the band. The group debuted at the 2004 Santa Paula Christmas parade, winning the first place trophy for novelty entry. Participants work at perfecting their playing ability but they also know how to have fun.Graduation music will include Pomp and Circumstance and In this Quiet Place. Currently the band is working on Smoke on the Water, Fantasmic, The Star Spangled Banner, and Gimme Some Lovin’.
This 10-week opportunity will allow participants to play their instruments, improve skills and have a lot of fun. Because it is only a half of a semester, it will only be $40 per student/$20 per parent (half price) to cover the cost of music.Help build a great send-off for this spring’s graduates and enjoy the opportunity to make some great music! For more information, visit www.pghb.org.
