JV puts up tough defense against Lions

JV Cards hold Lions to three TDs

The Cardinal JV football eleven held a tough Oaks Christian team to three touchdowns Friday. The Lions won the contest 26-6. Freshman TJ Cushing intercepted a pass and ran 70-yards for the Santa Paula TD.The Lions pretty much controlled the game in the first quarter, scoring three times, the final TD came off a 75-yard run into the end zone as the quarter ended.The Cardinal defense got things together in the second quarter, holding the lions back. Oaks Christian did make it into the end zone twice in the quarter, but penalties wiped out their TDs.The Lions got their final TD with 1:14 left on the clock in the third quarter followed soon after with the Santa Paula touchdown.
In the final quarter the Card defense stopped the Lions on the 9-yard-line as the clock ran out.The JV plays Golden Valley Friday at home at 4:30 p.m.
