Fagan Canyon: Scoping follow-up public session to be held Wednesday

In recent months concerns have been raised about traffic impacts from the project on existing nearby residential areas.Franklin said that the follow-up meeting is to address concerns raised at previously held June scoping sessions.Scoping is the precursor of the Draft Environmental Impact Report and allows the city to identify impacts of the proposed project.The community is then asked to review the Draft EIR before a final document is prepared with all phases having to be approved by various government entities. The Fagan Canyon Draft EIR may be completed before the end of the year.At a recent City Council meeting, Franklin said that the follow-up scoping session will allow responses to issues raised at the scoping sessions, provide new information about the development proposal and then provide the a workshop environment where residents can take part in identified issues related to the proposed development.The session provides yet another opportunity for input, Franklin noted, “that we’ve been doing over the last 18 months with community dialogue…we want to make sure that misinformation is not out there.”Santa Paula residents will be receiving a mailer about the upcoming meeting, the “normal type of communication residents have been getting,” regarding the proposed Fagan Canyon development.
