Isbell Middle School receives accreditation from Western Association of Schools and Colleges

The Santa Paula Elementary School District is pleased to announce that the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Accrediting Commission for Schools authorized the granting of an interim term of accreditation for Isbell Middle School (grades 6-8) which will run through June 30, 2007.

Story provided by the Santa Paula Elementary School DistrictThe Santa Paula Elementary School District is pleased to announce that the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Accrediting Commission for Schools authorized the granting of an interim term of accreditation for Isbell Middle School (grades 6-8) which will run through June 30, 2007.The approval of interim accreditation entitles students who successfully pass college credit courses at Isbell Middle School to use these classes when applying for acceptance at the university level. For example, a student taking Algebra I at Isbell Middle School, will not have to re-take Algebra I in High School in order to receive credit.I would like to acknowledge the excellent leadership provided by Fernando Rivera, Principal, the students, school site staff and district administration who helped undertake the task of going through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges / California Department of Education school improvement Focus on Learning Process for accreditation.This process has assisted the school in an in-depth look at what currently exists and what needs to be improved in relation to student learning and the school program.The process focuses upon student success in meeting expected school wide learning results and academic standards which all students should master and be able to complete by the time they are promoted to high school. The Focus on Learning investigates student achievement, and examines if the school is doing everything possible to support high achievement for all its students.Through the Focus on Learning Process, Isbell Middle School will fulfill the requirements for Accreditation, Program Improvement and will form the basis for the School’s Single Plan for Student Achievement through the use of a single set of curriculum-driven criteria for Middle Schools/Jr. High Schools.The accreditation process is an ongoing, perpetual cycle of assessment, planning, implementing, monitoring, and reassessment. The process is guided and assisted by self-study, action plan, visits and follow-up by accrediting Commission for schools representatives. Annually the school will be expected to summarize the degree to which all students are performing in all content areas and the expected outcomes of the self-study such as:·The involvement and collaboration of all staff and other stakeholders that will support student achievement·The clarification and measurement of what all students should know, understand, and be able to do through expected school wide learning results and academic standards· The gathering and analyzing of data about students and student achievement· The assessment of the entire school plan program and its impact on student learning in relation to expected school wide learning results, academic standards, and Western Association of Schools and Colleges / California Department of Education criteria consisting of: standards-based student learning in the area of curriculum and instruction, standards-based student learning in the areas of assessment and accountability, support for student personal and academic growth, school culture, leadership and staff, and vision and purpose.·The alignment of a long-range action plan to address Isbell Middle School’s areas of need; the development and implementation of an accountability system for monitoring the accomplishment of the plan.The entire Isbell Middle School staff are to be commended for reaching a goal that only eleven junior high/middle school in California have been able to attain.For additional information, please contact Luis C. ESCUELA INTERMEDIARIA RECIBE ACREDITACIÓN DE LA ASOCIACIÓN DE ESCUELAS Y COLEGIOS DEL OESTEEl Distrito Escolar de Santa Paula esta orgulloso de anunciar que la Comisión de la Asociación de Escuelas y Colegios de Oeste, ha autorizado la acreditación de la Escuela Intermediara Isbell (6-8) por un termino de tres años hasta el 30 de Junio de 2007.La aprobación de la acreditación permite estudiantes que pasan ciertos cursos en la Escuela Isbell, usar estos cursos para aplicar a una universidad. Por ejemplo, un estudiante que toma el curso de Álgebra I en la Escuela Isbell, no tendrá que tomar el mismo curso en la preparatoria para recibir crédito.Quisiera reconocer el Director Fernando Rivera, por su liderazgo ejemplar, el personal y los estudiantes de la Escuela Isbell y la administración del distrito que ayudo alcanzar esta meta de acreditación.Este proceso asistirá a la escuela en una forma interna para ver lo que existe y lo que necesitamos para progresar en relación a el aprendizaje de los estudiantes y el programa escolar. El proceso se enfoca en el éxito de nuestros estudiantes en desempeñar las metas académicas del programa escolar como, lo que deben de saber nuestros estudiantes y el nivel que deben de estar antes de ingresar a la escuela secundaria. Investiga la perfección de los estudiantes y examina si la escuela esta haciendo todo lo posible para sostener la perfección en alto para todos sus estudiantes.Por medio del Enfoque en el Proceso de Aprendizaje, la Escuela Isbell cumplirá con los requisitos de la acreditación, programa de adelantamiento y formara la base para un Plan Único Escolar para la perfección de los estudiantes por un método escolar de criterio para las escuelas intermedias ó pre-secundarias.El proceso de acreditación es continuo en el cual se encuentra un círculo perpetuo de pruebas, proyección, implementación, control y repaso. El proceso esta guiado y asistido por un estudio interno, plan de acción, visitas y evaluación adicional de representantes de la comisión. Anualmente a la escuela se le demandara que haga un resumen acerca del nivel académico de todos los estudiantes en todas las materias incluyendo todos los subgrupos, y también un resumen de las metas escolares dentro del estudio interno como por ejemplo:· La participación y colaboración de todos los maestros y otros involucrados en el sostenimiento de la perfección para los estudiantes· La clarificación y medida de lo que todos los estudiantes deben de saber, comprender, y poder desempeñar por medio en los resultados académicos escolares·La acumulación y análisis de datos acerca del estudiante y la perfección del estudiante· Evaluación del plan general y programas de la escuela en el impacto a los estudiantes en relación al aprendizaje, resultados académicos y las ramas del criterio WASC (Asociación Oeste de Escuelas y Colegios) / CDE (Departamento de Educación de California) como: marco-base aprendizaje de los estudiantes en las áreas de la currículo y instrucción, marco-base aprendizaje de los estudiantes en las áreas de acceso y responsabilidad, sostenimiento personal y académico para el estudiante, desarrollo, cultura de la escuela, conducción y facultad, visión y propósito·Alineación de la proyección del plan de acción a las áreas de desarrollo para la escuela Isbell; el desarrollo y implementación a un sistema de responsabilidad de revisar los acontecimientos del planToda la facultad de la Escuela Isbell debe de ser reconocida por alcanzar esta meta que solamente once escuelas intermedias han alcanzado.Para mas información, favor de llamar al Superintendente del Distrito Escolar de Santa Paula, Luis C.
