Each year United Way of Ventura County invites the community to participate in a Day of Caring, bringing together volunteers to help non-profit agencies with a variety of tasks such as paining, gardening and general cleaning. The day is chosen in conjunction with National Civic Participation Week. This year employees from the Ventura County Star and Mary Clary and friends from Ojai adopted the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Paula. It was a great day for the club, with over 25 volunteers helping to clean the outside of the building and the grounds at the club site. United Way provided t-shirts for all participants.Later that day United Way held a “Thank You” Celebration at Gardens of the World in Thousand Oaks.
