By Peggy Kelly Santa Paula TimesLike a good neighbor, State Farm was there when the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clara Valley received an eye-popping gift of 20 Pentium III computers, monitors, keyboards and hardware for use by Santa Paula club members.The array of computers gifted to the club by State Farm Insurance, the largest insurer in the United States, will help “educate our kids and bring them a brighter future,” said Santa Paula State Farm Agent Jim Tovias. “Education is the key and we are happy to be able to donate the necessary tools.”“State Farm is more than happy to support the club and its children in this fashion,” noted Steve Smead, also a Santa Paula State Farm Agent. “We look at this as another step in our long relationship with this very worthy and important organization.”State Farm is active in almost every community throughout the nation, participating in volunteer activities, financial support of non-profit organizations and education of children and the general public through various safety issues.“I know how important the Boys and Girls Club is to our community, as does State Farm,” which recognizes the great importance of computer skills in all segments of today’s society, said Tovias.
“The Boys and Girls Club is delighted with this donation, it was wonderful of State Farm and will be wonderful for our club members, who were so surprised and excited. Our kids will certainly put those computers to good use,” said club Executive Director Pat Zwagerman.The company, headquartered in Bloomington, Illinois, was originated in 1922 as an automobile insurance company when State Farm founder, George J.
