Two women received minor injuries in a traffic collision that occurred Monday on the west side of the city according to a Santa Paula Police spokesman.

Sgt. Jeremy Watson, also the SPPD Traffic Investigator, said the June 9 collision occurred at about 3:57 p.m. in the 600 block of West Main Street.

Maricela Torres, 38, of Santa Paula, was at the wheel of a white, 1997 Ford Thunderbird as she drove south out of the driveway of Calavo.

Watson said upon exiting the driveway Torres’ vehicle, “Was struck by a blue, 1994 Ford Ranger,” pickup truck driven westbound by 63-year-old Stella Fasulo of Oxnard.

Watson said although both women had “minor complaints of pain” they denied medical attention at the scene.

Torres’ Thunderbird sustained major damage to the driver’s side; Watson said although “The Ford pickup didn’t appear to have too much damage,” there could have been mechanical issues resulting from the collision as Fasulo experience problems driving the vehicle from the scene.

The collision is still under investigation.
