On Saturday, February 1, 2014, The Friends of the Blanchard Community Library will once again open the roll-up door on the north side of the library for their First-Saturday-of-the-Month Book Sale in The Back Stacks. This will be a smaller sale than the one in Dec. but no less abundant in bargains. The sale will be held from 10:00AM-2:00PM.
Featured will be many half price books, both fiction and non-fiction, many, many children’s books at $.50 each, a wall of pocketbook-sized paperback novels at $.50 each, and, of course, a unique selection of collectible books with prices starting at $4.00. There will be other fiction and non-fiction books, as well, priced from $1.00-$2.00.
All the funds generated through the Friends’ book sales benefit the library through new book purchases, funding for programs, and other library improvements. In the last three months The Friends have purchased $900 in children’s books, funded next summer’s reading program, and purchased eleven step stools so patrons can better access the new library shelving. There will be other projects in the future which will benefit from the moneys raised through book sales and donations to the Friends.
The Friends of the Blanchard Community Library are always seeking new members, donations of used books, CDs, and DVDs, and volunteers. Membership applications can be obtained at the Book Mart, the small in-library book store maintained by the Friends so patrons can purchase books whenever the library is open. The Book Mart is located along the south wall near the water fountains.
