Ronda McKaig honored with 2013 CLAY Award

Ronda McKaig of Santa Paula is one of 60 attorneys in the state honored with a 2013 CLAY Award, the 17th annual California Lawyers Attorneys of the Year. She was honored, along with two other Los Angeles attorneys, for her pro bono work in successfully defending Planned Parenthood in federal False Claims Act litigation, in June 2012 obtaining a dismissal with prejudice of a complaint seeking damages of more than $600 million.
This year’s CLAY Awards, given by California Law magazine and presented by the Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court, recognize lawyers throughout the state whose legal work made a significant impact in 2012. They include state and federal prosecutors, law professors, public-interest lawyers, and attorneys from large international firms. The awards identify 27 accomplishments in 21 practice areas, ranging from corporate antitrust law, civil rights, in intellectual property to appellate work at the California Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
McKaig is a 1990 graduate of Santa Paula High School, and graduated from law school in 2001. She makes her home here in Santa Paula with her husband and two sons. She is an attorney with the Los Angeles firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
