    Robert L. Holifield

    It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) L. Holifield on April 5, 2013 at the age of 75. He died of complications from years of heart and lung disease.

    Bob was born in New Madrid, Missouri on June 9, 1937. He was born to Sylvia Holifield, but raised in the loving home of Sam and Byrnistine Trousdale in Dupo, Illinois.

    He served in the Army as a cook, a skill he enjoyed for many years afterwards. 

    He moved to Ventura and worked for FMC Corporation, at Coastal Lemon, as well as Gallagher’s gas station, B. D. Lab Supplies, and finally for Regional Sanitation of the County of Ventura at the wastewater facility.

    He was leader of a singles group called “We Care” in the County of Ventura, having had groups in all cities of Ventura County during the 70s and 80s. 

    He graduated from Ventura College with an AS and several certificates.

    He has been married to Joyce Keefe-Holifield for 31 years. They successfully joined two families and have one of their own.

    He is survived by his children, Karla (Steve) Johnson of Paradise, CA, David (Davie) Holifield of Ventura, CA, Tiffany (John) Orr of Santa Paula, CA, Troy (Kristina) Keefe of Canby, OR, Christopher Holifield of Salt Lake City, UT, and Tuesday Bouvet of Santa Paula, CA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren that he was very proud of: Matthew and Samuel Johnson, Ashlee and Jordyn Orr, Lucas and Max Holifield, Abby Keefe, and Sunday and Kade Bouvet. He also leaves behind several siblings, including G. Butch (Yvonne) Trousdale of Banning, CA and Billy (Patricia) Hancock of Jacksonville, TX; and also several nephews and nieces.

    A family gathering was held in his honor on Saturday, April 6. No other gathering has been planned.

    The family wishes to thank the many doctors and nurses at Community Memorial Hospital with their extensive care and compassion.
