Jane Schrock receives “Yard of the Month” |
Santa Paulan Jane Schrock is well known for having many talents, and landscaping is one of them. In fact, Jane’s home with its lush colorful plants and trim lawn was honored as the Yard of the Month by the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce.
The award was given at the March Good Morning Santa Paula. The Chamber-sponsored breakfast meeting was held at Garman’s Pub in the historic downtown.
Dianne Davis, the founder of the America in Bloom (AIB) Santa Paula chapter, was on hand to present the award accepted on Jane’s behalf by Joe Lathrop, also of AIB. The monthly Yard of the Month award includes “bragging rights” with a sign denoting the honor for outdoor display and gift certificates from the Chamber, Valero Gas, America in Bloom and Heritage Hardware.
“Jane and her husband,” Dr. Jon Schrock, “worked very hard” on the landscaping, and Lathrop noted although Jane was unable to make the Chamber breakfast meeting, “She’s very excited to receive the award.” Aside from Yard of the Month, the Chamber of Commerce also regularly rewards teachers, members and public safety officers with recognitions based on their accomplishments.
Davis announced that America in Bloom and Santa Clara Valley Hospice/Home Support Group will be hold the Big Plant Sale April 20 and April 21 at Faulkner Farm.
“Actually,” said Chamber President John Chamberlain, “all of these entities, all these things together create a stronger community.”
