Richard “Dick” Lyle Gregg Richard “Dick” Lyle Gregg, Sr., age 70 of Springfield, Oregon, passed away June 7, 2001. He was born December 7, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to Lyle and Laura (Lenneman) Gregg.A Santa Paula resident prior to his move to Springfield in March 2001, Dick was self-employed as a general construction contractor. Theater was a passion, and he also enjoyed woodworking. A tour bus driver (he sang to the passengers), Dick loved to be with family and people.Dick served with the U.S. Marines in the Korean War. He was a member of Lions International - McKenzie River Club and the Santa Paula Club. Theatrically he was associated with the Ojai Art Center, Santa Paula Theater Center, and the Fireside Dinner Theater in Ventura.He is survived by his wife of two years, Rosalyce Gregg; mother, Laura C. Gregg of Rocky River, Ohio; son Richard L. Gregg, Jr. (wife Patricia) of Springfield, Oregon; stepsons, Craig Verzani (wife Nerissa) of Montebello, and Lawrence Verzani of California; daughters, Debra Anne McCall (husband David) of Daytona Beach, Florida, and Melissa-Sue Howlett (husband Bob) of Jacksonville, Florida; stepdaughter Jeanine Anderson (husband Drew) of Maple Valley, Washington; brothers, Larry Gregg of Lakewood, Ohio and James Gregg of Denver, Colorado; and sisters, Elizabeth Moore of Rochester, Minnesota and Ginger Coughlin of Lakewood, Ohio.A celebration of Dick’s life was held June 13 in Oregon at the Eastside Faith Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation c/o McKenzie River Lions Club, P.O. Box 1105, Leaburg, OR 97489; or the Santa Paula Lions Club, P.O. Box 949, Santa Paula, CA 93061.Arrangements were under the direction of the Major Family Funeral Home.Carmen LevarioCarmen Levario, age 89, of Santa Paula, passed away June 14, 2001 in Fillmore.Mrs. Levario was born May 7, 1912 in Sonora, Mexico. She worked for the Santa Paula Elementary School District in the Food Services Department for 15 years. While in Santa Paula, she was an active member of the El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church, and served for many years as president of the Methodist women’s organization. She will be fondly remembered by her family for her lovely embroidery and crochet work, as well as being a great cook.Mrs. Levario is survived by her husband of 72 years, Moses; daughters, Hortensia and husband Joseph Gonzalez, Frances and husband Joe Limon, Mary Lou and husband Henry White, Rachael and husband Jess Bustillos, and Ruthie and husband Rudy Avila, all of Santa Paula; 14 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.Memorial services were held at El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church on June 18; funeral services were held June 19, with burial following at Santa Paula Cemetery.

Trombley, age 101, of Ventura, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001 following a brief illness. She was born March 31, 1900 in Barneveld, New York, and was a 65 year Ventura County resident.Hazel and her husband, Fred, traveled from New York to California for vacation in 1936. They liked it so much, they never went back.Hazel lived with her husband, Fred, in Santa Paula from 1936 until he died in 1962. She then moved to Ventura, where she lived until 1977. She was a resident for the past four years at Oxnard Manor Nursing Home, where she was the oldest resident.Hazel was a member of Saint Sebastian Catholic Church in Santa Paula, and Sacred Heart Church of Ventura for many years.Her only daughter, Norma Nevison, preceded her in death last year. She is survived by her grandchildren, Nancy Nevison-Spencer and Pam Young, both of Ventura, and Brent Nevison of Henderson, Nevada; as well as great grandchildren Eric Eaton and Chad Spencer, Erin and Adam Young, and Brittney, Brynna, Allexx and Jake Nevison. She will be missed by many, including those who cared for her and whose lives she touched over the last four years at the Oxnard Manor.Memorial services will be held Friday, June 22 at 3 p.m. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura, with the Reverend Marco Ortiz of Santa Clara Church, Oxnard, officiating.Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home.
