Cynthia Frutos, a long time Santa Paula resident, recently took on the job of principal at Sierra High School, a new alternative high school in Fillmore.

Frutos graduated from Santa Paula High School in 1989 and is married to her high school sweetheart, Tommy Frutos who works in the Santa Paula Elementary School District.  They have three children.

Sierra High School was dedicated in September.  Frutos is a graduate of UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Northridge.  She worked in the Moorpark Unified School District from 1996 to 2007, when she moved to the Fillmore district.

The new school facility includes a science lab, multi-media room, health office and extra classrooms for future growth.  The current enrollment is 60 students with three teachers and 30 students in independent studies with one teacher.
