Each year debutante activities contribute approximately $60,000 to the Assistance League to support its philanthropies. They include the Assistance League School for Child Development in Oxnard, which prepares developmentally disabled preschoolers for grade school; Ventura Girls and Teen Club, and after school program for girls; Buffy Bear, which donates stuffed animals to be used by police and fire departments to give to children caught in traumatic situations; and Operation School Bell, which provides school clothes to underprivileged children.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Abeloe II, she is a student at St. Bonaventure High School. Amid family and friends, Miss Abeloe, along with six other Ventura County women, was presented at the annual ball held March 24th at the Clarion Ventura Beach Hotel.
This year’s Las Patronas debutantes included Jennifer Michelle Abeloe. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Abeloe II, she is a student at St. Bonaventure High School. Amid family and friends, Miss Abeloe, along with six other Ventura County women, was presented at the annual ball held March 24th at the Clarion Ventura Beach Hotel.Surrounded by spring flowers and candlelight, the 2001 debutantes were introduced to over 200 guests by Dr. John Hill, husband of Las Patronas President Barbara Hill. Pauli Powers, chairwoman of the ball, was assisted by Las Patronas Vice President Heather Daily, as well as an experienced ball committee of Las Patronas members.Dressed in traditional white ball gowns, each debutante carried a lace fan adorned with delicate flowers and greenery, and wore a fan-shaped gold charm with pearls, a gift from Las Patronas. After being presented to the admiring guests by their fathers, the debutantes danced the first waltz with their fathers before being claimed by their escorts.
