Candidates start taking out papers for area school districts

Candidates have started pulling papers for area school district trustee elections.

 

The filing period for school board candidates began this past Monday.  The election will take place November 2.  People wishing to run have until next Friday to return their papers to the County Elections Office in Ventura.

There are three incumbents up for re-election in the Santa Paula Union High School District.  They are Terence Nelson, Doug Jackson and Christina Urias.  As of press time only Urias and Jackson had pulled papers.   In the Santa Paula Elementary School District there are also three seats up for grabs.  Incumbents Tony Perez, Dan Robles and Michelle Kolbeck have taken out nomination papers.  Timothy Hicks, who ran in the last election, has also pulled papers. Three incumbents are also up for re-election in the Briggs School District.  They are: Charles Alvarez, Karen Schilbrack and Mindee Stekkinger.   So far, Alvarez and Schilbrack have taken out papers. The Mupu School District has two incumbents, Tim Shield and Charles Teague, who have both pulled papers. The Santa Clara School District (The Little Red Schoolhouse) also has two incumbents.  They are: Deann Hobson and Lynne Peterson.  No one has pulled papers in this district at this time.

Filing information can be picked up at the various school district offices and can also be obtained from the County Elections Division, Office of the County Clerk in the Administration Building, Lower Plaza at 800 South Victoria Avenue, Ventura.
