Cardinal varsity gets first league win in home game against Santa Clara

The Cardinal varsity baseball nine took a 12-6 win over Santa Clara in a home game Wednesday.

Tony Penuelas started for Santa Paula, but Steven Kohr got the win, his first this year.  Justin Barron was behind the plate for the Cards.

At the end of the fourth inning the Saints had a 5-4 edge, but the Cardinals scored 1 run in the fifth and 7 in the sixth inning to seal the victory.

Steven Kohr went 2 for 4 at bat with two doubles, three RBIs and scored 2 runs.  Aaron Gomez was 1 for 2 with three walks.  Justin Barron went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and scored 2 runs.  Brian Hinojosa was 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs and Justin Macias went 1 for 4 with a double and scored 4 runs.

Santa Clara will be out for revenge today as they play the Cardinals on their home turf.  Game time is 3:30 pm.
