Doris Osborne Doris Osborne of Santa Paula passed away peacefully February 3, 2009, with her family by her side, at the age of 88. She was born March 1, 1920 in Fort Collins, Colorado.Doris was the daughter of a pioneer family and grew up on the farm, homesteaded by her grandfather. She attended high school and college in her hometown. Doris and her husband, Harold, moved to Santa Paula in 1941, where they raised two children.She was a homemaker as well as the owner and manager of OK Liquor in Santa Paula for 14 years. Doris was an active member of Loyal Friends for many years, until declining health restricted her participation.She was preceded in death by her son Dale, her husband Harold, and her sister, Zerelda Becker. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Armstrong, son-in-law Douglas Armstrong, grandson Dale Armstrong, and sister, Carolyn Wilson.The family wishes to thank the staff at Twin Pines, Santa Paula Healthcare and Dr. Chen for their loving care of Doris for the past three years. There will be a private burial at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, 738 E. Santa Paula St., Santa Paula, 525-3391.Maxine BrydenMaxine Iona Bryden, of Santa Paula, passed away on February 5, 2009 at age 97. She was born in Pierre, South Dakota April 27, 1911, the daughter of Curtis and Katherine McCready. Maxine was predeceased by her two brothers Donald and Rollan.A graduate of Pomona College and Claremont Graduate School, Mrs. Bryden taught at Bonita High School, San Dimas before her marriage to Randall A. Bryden, former business teacher and well-known gymnastics coach at Santa Paula High School. Mr. Bryden died, after a teaching career of 37 years, on February 5, 1983.Maxine is survived by one son, Robert R. Bryden and his wife, June Bryden of Ojai. She is also survived by two grandsons, Kevin S. Bryden of Durango, Colorado and Aaron B. Bryden of Ojai; niece Janith Hurff of Sierra Madre; and cousins Charles J. Smith of Oceanside and G. Roger Smith Jr. of La Quinta, CA.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 14 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 121 Davis St., Santa Paula.Arrangements were made under the direction of Funeraria del ángel Stetler Mortuary, 128 S. 8th St., Santa Paula, (805) 525-5595. Joe was born in Santa Paula to Joe and Annie Carrillo on May 24, 1944. He lived his early years in Santa Paula, where he met the mother of his children, Linda Carrillo. Together they brought up three wonderful children, Denise, John and Kristian. Later he met his wife of 26 years, Lorraine Carrillo, and raised two children as his own, Freddie Paul and Bessie.Joe is survived by his wife, Lorraine Carrillo; children, Denise Diaz, John (Gloria) Carrillo, Kristian (Rick) Carrillo-Pitman, Freddie Paul (Nichole) Lopez and Bessie (Frank) Jordan; grandchildren, Julia Herron, Jerry Diaz, Janae Diaz, Angel Diaz, Johnny Carrillo II, Albert Carrillo, Isaac Carrillo, Jonyssa Carrillo, Leanna Becerra, Danielle Becerra, Jazmine Garcia, Freddie Paul Lopez Jr., Violet Lopez, Leilani Jordan, Victoria Jordan, Jaiden Jordan and Ariana Jordan; great-grandchildren, Mataio Herron, Kimora Warren, Makaylah Alvarez and soon to come Mackenzee Menchaca; mother Annie Carrillo; brother Ronnie (Katrina) Carrillo; sister Irma (Ramiro) Gomez; and numerous nieces and nephews and many family and friends.Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joe R. For any further information please call 805-229-7054.Carmen RodriguezOur beloved Carmen Rodriguez passed away February 4, 2009. Carmen was born to Benjamin Tapia and Eleanor Urquidez on June 12, 1932. She has gone to heaven to join her parents and sisters Dolores and Jenny.She spent her early childhood in Sylmar, CA. She moved to Santa Paula in 1965 together with her three sons. She later met Jose, whom she loved so much.Carmen was faithful to her family, was a loving sister and a true friend. Carmen lived, laughed and loved; she made everyone her friend.Carmen is survived by her devoted husband, Jose Rodriguez; her sons, Richard, Victor and Jessie; her brother John Tapia; her 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many godchildren.Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 12 at Church of Angels, 600 E. Pleasant St., Santa Paula, with rosary to follow at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 13 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Santa Paula.
