JV takes bite out of Malibu Sharks with a 46-0 shutout

The Cardinal JV scored in all four quarters in their 46-0 rout of Malibu Friday afternoon. On Santa Paula’s first possession at the start of the game, the Card JV scored when Esteban Magana took the ball into the Malibu end zone. Steven Kohr added two points, giving the Cards an 8-0 lead. Magana had two more TDs in the game.Ulices Soto grabbed a Malibu fumble just before the end of the first quarter. Early in the second Magana ran for about 50 yards for his second TD. Another 2-point conversion put the Santa Paula JV ahead 16-0. Later in the quarter Angel Garfio snatched another Malibu fumble and scored a TD. The first half concluded with the Cards ahead 24-0.A few minutes into the third quarter Magana intercepted a Malibu pass and ran it to the 1-yard line, but a penalty voided his effort. However, Magana ran for his third TD just over a minute later and carried the ball for a 2-point conversion. A minute later Brennan Yzaguirre recovered a fumble on the Malibu 30 yard line. With four minutes left in the quarter Armando Ramirez scored and a 2-point conversion put the score at 40-0.The clock ran out in the fourth quarter, but not before Steven Kohr got in a last Cardinal touchdown.
The JV wraps up their season Friday at home, against Grace Brethren at 4:30 p.m.
