Over 400 people had signed petitions supporting the idea. The board split 2-2 last month on changing district policy, which allows facilities to only be named for persons who had been deceased for a minimum of one year. Trustees Bob Salas and Terry Nelson voted for the change and Catherine Sepulveda and Christina Urias voted no. Board member Doug Jackson was absent, so when the matter returns, he’ll have the deciding vote.Steve Brown presented the petitions to the board last month and a number of people spoke on behalf of changing the policy at that time. At this week’s meeting Brown thanked the board for considering the change.
