Drinking and flying are NOT on the agenda at “Wine & Wings,” the Aviation Museum of Santa Paula’s annual fundraiser at the Santa Paula Airport on Saturday, October 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. Instead, the public is welcome to bid on a treasure trove of silent auction items, and stroll among vintage antique aircraft while trying various vintages of wines from around the world. This event benefits the Aviation Museum of Santa Paula, best known for the “First Sunday at the Airport” monthly aviation display. The museum is housed in hangars throughout Santa Paula Airport, where aviation enthusiasts open their hangars each month to share glimpses of aviation history and other fascinating and eclectic collections of artifacts.
The Aviation Museum of Santa Paula holds this fundraising event each year to defray the costs of operating the museum and raise funds to build a place to house the many artifacts currently stored throughout the airport. Tickets are $25 for the event. The purpose of the Aviation Museum, which has been in operation for many years, is to provide aviation education to the local community, and to help people gain understanding of the role that this small private airport has played in the history of aviation since the airport’s founding in 1930.
